The essence of the Screenplay.
A screenplay is the visualisation of a story in the mind. It is the maximum expression of the imagination and its ability to fantasise. In reality, it is through the screenplay that the best conditions are created for the spectator to make his journey within that story, within that world.
A screenplay is the process of elaborating a cinematographic story, but this art goes far beyond. We can understand and admire its wonder only when we see a film in the cinema, and only then can we recognise and appreciate the immense role of the script. Without it neither cinema nor theatre can exist.
The screenplay has an enormous power to capture and bring us into the story, into the characters, thus being able to discover and experience that world “in person”.
A screenplay is a mosaic, made up of thousands of small fragments that are the result of great study and research. These, put together with intelligence, consistency and taste, ensure that it can be well balanced. A union is created, from which the mosaic of the screenplay emerges.
The screenwriter is a combination of a highly imaginative craftsman and a very skilled surgeon who calculates and considers each fragment.

Screenplay Course live online with the teacher:
The purpose of the Film School and this course is to show to everyone the art of how to write a screenplay that can touch, engage and inspire viewers and readers. First, however, you need to know how to use and manage your imagination, being able to create compelling stories and incredible scenarios, situations and worlds with numerously appropriate nuances and details. Furthermore, in order to create authentic and true characters, we must be able to observe and identify with the lives and stories of others.
The screenplay is different from all other forms of writing. It is much more complex and articulated, since it is necessary at all times, to take into account not only the quality of the story and the reader, but the many departments involved: direction, photography, actors, costumes, sound, editing. At the same time one must be willing to propose new and original ideas that can work concretely within the context.
Behind all the great films there is a great screenplay. Knowing this art, in depth, means learning the language of images. This is significant in developing and heightening your imagination, allowing you to see and transform images into a film or a show.
What are the fundamental points of the course:
To create good and functional ideas for writing a screenplay you need, initially, four elements:
- Unlike other artistic disciplines, especially in cinema, the best ideas are born and mature thanks to a good knowledge of the whole process, from A to Z. We will look the fundamental and principal points of how a film is born, develops and ends;
- It is essential to have a good understanding of how to write a screenplay; learning how to create quality content, while implementing and understanding the function of the technical aspect;
- Having a well-rounded, 360 degrees, sense of knowledge and culture to pull from, not just tied to cinema;
- Knowing how to listen to oneself, giving voice and expression to one’s own lived experiences. Then valuing them, as they contain information, feelings and emotions, having within themselves the mechanism and functioning of life.
Many other topics will be addressed, here are some: idea, subject, treatment, the 3 acts from Aristotle to Syd Field, narrative theories, the scene and its construction, creating characters, building dialogues, writing the script, general knowledge about making a film, etc.
