It is thanks to creative writing that the plot of a movie can seem to portray our life and at the same time the life of many others, or that reading a book can change our life, or that a song breaks our heart, or that a poem makes the deepest parts of our essence vibrate.
The creative writer, driven by passion and love for his work, must be like a painter who knows all the features and nuances of his paints, textures, colours, shades and tones and how he can best use them. The paints of the creative writer, on the other hand, are nothing more than life and the human condition.
What are the fundamental points of the course.
Initially we will look at and become familiar with all the theoretical and technical parts of writing a story, and then we will analyse the best known techniques and methods of narration. The aim is to learn how to enhance and value these techniques, making them useful tools. Instead of choosing one, with the risk of creating limits in the future, we can learn, on the contrary, when it is possible to break the rules and patterns allowing creativity to flow freely and be original.
We will explore how to write spontaneously, learning to let one’s natural instinct express itself. First however you must ask yourself: two questions; “Why do I want to write this story? and “Why should others read my story?”
We will practice writing stories of direct life experiences, this leading us to learn how to manage the emotions and feelings we have experienced. We will then look at the creative writing process for stories related to indirect experiences, or stories in which we have had no experience. Finally, we will also address the creative writing process for purely fictional stories.
